Actually there is no limit on how long you can go for vacation, but if you are male citizen, you need to inform CMPB about your vacation and if more than 6 months, you must apply for exit permit for NSmen. If you haven't complete your NS cycle, than the maximum they imposed its 1 year, but I don't think you need to travel a whole year, don't you?

it all depends on the country you are visiting. you should check out their immigration websites. most will allow up to a month without a visa, some will require you to stay 3 months without a visa. anything longer than the stipulated no-visa period they will want you to apply for a visa and that's when they require you to tell them why you need to stay longer than normal.
