I'm planning a vacation with a friend. Where can I find the cheapest room to rent in Singapore city?

I am from the Philippines. My friend and I wanted to explore Singapore. We are not rich people that is why we do not want to spend much during our stay in Singapore. We are planning to stay there for not more than 30 days.
I hope you guys could help me with this, especially people from Singapore.
PS: I preferrably want to stay at the heart of the city, if possible.

Thank you very much

I have seen & check for friends from Philippines to stay in S'pore at the cheapest cost of $16/- per person/ day (room for 4-6) aircon at shop/flat near Kallang MRT(train) Station. In Chinatown, there are flat/room at $35-50 per day for 2. The Hotel 81(all over S'pore) has room from $60-80 per day for twin. Normal hotel room is currently above $130/-.

It depends on your budget really, since you did not state your budget, it would be hard to speculate on it.

It depends on what you want to do when you are in Singapore. There are lots of options available really.

    Check out http://hotels.online.com.sg/singapore-hotels-cost_between_100_and_149.asp.

You can then sort the results by Location or by Rates (see box at the top of the list of hotels).

You know be able to find out the hotels you want quite easily from there.

There are lots of backpacker type dormitory guest houses that have rooms or share dormitory . Start at about $14 per person . There is lots of Filipino women at the Mackenzie Quest house on MacKenzie road near little India , also Cozy corner is good on North Bridge road , behind Bugis Junction shopping center .
Also Seventh Story Hotel , dormitory about $20 per person , must book in advance on internet.

    Google: Singapore Dormitory Room

You will find more and get address phone number and address.

30days and you should also explore Malaysia and Indonesia. Singapore is a small country but it is a springboard to its two good neighbors. i am sure you are doing research right now and I also understand that choosing accommodation can be a headache.

Go to reputable hostels sites such as hostelworld.com, tripadvisor.com
You will find reviews of travelers who had been to some of these hostels (include Singapore). Then do your research carefully.

If you want it cheap, you may either call the hostels directly or email them for rates charged at local currency.

In Singapore, established hostel clusters are around Bugis, Chinatown and Little India. All of them are accessible by MRT (subway) and they are close to town. Among the three, Little India may have more to offer such as cheap food and cheap supplies.

Enjoy your trip! Welcome to Singapore!
